Burger and Fries for Friends

We have produced, served and successfully organized work projects for many years in the community of Las Carretas Canyon, Tijuana Mexico.  Members of this community have become friends, mentors and family.  It is our mission to go into these communities prepared with work projects, but we also feel that God moves when we leave room for the unknown.  We are never disappointed when we step into meeting a need spontaneously.  As a result, we were able to feed the Ramirez Family a surprise Burger King Lunch one afternoon.

With our warm happy meals in hand we knocked on a piece of plywood doubling as a front door.  To say we were surprised by their reaction is an understatement.  Tony Ramirez had been sick for a long time and it was clear to many of his friends that his time was limited.  We decided to treat him and his family to a Burger King lunch.  You need to know that Burger King is unaffordable for the people living in this community.

It is our goal with each mission to provide love, compassion and hope.  I want you to understand that our mission was accomplished that day when Tony flashed the biggest smile and I quote his words, “how did you know I wanted Burger King.”  This was news to me.  What you do to help others really matters to them.   Our goal is to facilitate opportunities to comfort the sick, dying and lonely.  Tony Ramirez would only live several months after our visit.  But I can tell you that even though he could no longer digest food properly, he enjoyed every bite of his meal that day. We fully trusted God and he came through for Tony Ramirez and his family.
